In my early days studying maritime technology and interning at shipbuilding companies, I developed a profound appreciation for the art and science of everything floating. This period did my analytical and process-oriented thinking well, and enriched my skills in mathematics and the digital domain.
Post-graduation, I embarked on a career as a project engineer. Over the years, I’ve blended my appreciation for ships with data science, becoming proficient in Python and Excel. My work spans descriptive and predictive analyses, and I’ve built sophisticated hydrodynamic models. At the companies I worked, I took the initiative to start projects like developing Python packages to increase the quality of and streamline the process for all kinds of engineering workflows.
In my off time, you’ll find me outdoor; rowing, sailing, or cycling. I enjoy the blend of a physical challenge and the beauty of nature. My technical expertise often spills over into my personal life, where I engage in voluntary projects. For example, I've built my own data warehouse to predict water levels in Arnhem (where I live).
I am driven by curiosity, flexibility, and ambition. And live by Pippi Longstocking’s motto, “I have never tried that before, so I think I can definitely do it,” I like seeking new challenges and learning opportunities. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in AI to deepen my understanding of artificial intelligence, mathematics, and statistics.
